Hayley
Spira-Bauer
Chief Academic Officer, iTutor
Progressive school founder, Teach for America alumni, and lifelong educator. Creator of iTutor’s education branch. Curator and host of a nationally recognized webinar and podcast series. Disability advocate.
Hayley Spira-Bauer is a passionate educator and advocate with guts. She is a trained elementary school teacher who began her career through an alternative certification program called Teach for America and continued in the classroom treaching students from kindergarten through 8th grade. If she had to pick a favorite (but how can one pick a favorite, really?) Hayley will tell you she most enjoyed teaching 5th grade in a middle school for four years helping hundreds of kids to fall in love with reading. During her time in the classroom, Hayley founded a New York City elementary school and eventually began supporting teachers as a school leader at both the elementary and middle school levels.
Today, in her day job as Chief Academic Officer at iTutor, Hayley has her hands on the wheel of education evolution, helping schools across the US expand their reach by recruiting and training top-notch teachers to serve all types of learners. During her time at iTutor, Hayley founded the academics team which provides oversight to all education programs on the virtual learning platform and built out extensive, research-based frameworks for student success and teacher growth and development. Under her leadership, iTutor’s instructional design practices garnered favorable feedback from both Johns Hopkins Instructional Design Review Process and Cognia, earning the company accreditation as a Digital Learning Institute. Hayley and her team are deeply motivated by this heart work: each day, serving an exponentially greater number of students within school districts nationwide.
When Hayley’s not hosting her punchy podcast or collaborating with the iTutor team, she can be found wrangling her two young and busy boys at home with her husband on Long Island, New York and advocating for people with disabilities.
